Members, we are excited to have Olivia Murphy, UK and European Patent Attorney with Haseltine Lake, present Brexit Means Brexit.

This presentation will articulate the results and possible results of the UK government's ratification of the UPC (Unified Patent Court) Agreement.  The UPC will be a common court for countries which are members of the European Union, allowing for enforcement of patents in all countries which have become members of the UPC.  The potential effects of Brexit on whether or not the UPC will go ahead will also be discussed.

Olivia Murphy joined Haseltine Lake in 2013 following completion of her Master's degree in Physics from Durham University.  She qualified as a UK and European patent attorney in 2017.  During qualification, Olivia received the Drafting Prize from the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA), for passing the drafting exam with highest mark.

While working at Haseltine Lake, Olivia has developed her patent drafting and prosecution skills in a wide range of physics, electronics and communication based technologies such as mobile communications, audio signal processing, MEMS devices and software related inventions.

During her time at Haseltine Lake, Olivia has completed two secondments to a fabless semiconductor company specializing in signal processing.
