NEW YORK APPELLATE PRACTICE IN THE TIME OF COVID-19

The New York Chapter is pleased to announce our next chapter meeting, which will be conducted via Zoom and feature a presentation by Jacquelyn Mouquin, Esq. and Joe Gangi, Esq. of Counsel Press, covering New York Appellate Practice in the Time of COVID-19. CLE credit will be offered to attorneys in attendance. Discussion topics will include updates on e-filing procedures, individual department rules of practice including updates on oral argument procedures, and rules of practice in the New York Court of Appeals, which have all been affected by COVID-19. The presentation will conclude with a Q&A session. We hope you are able join us for what we are sure will be an informative meeting!

Jacquelyn Mouquin, Esq.
Jacquelyn Mouquin specializes in assisting Counsel Press clients in their matters within the New York State appellate courts, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit Court, and other federal appellate courts nationwide.
Ms. Mouquin is a seasoned trial and appellate litigator, having handled and tried cases in Rhode Island Supreme and Superior Courts and the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island. Ms. Mouquin’s practice focused on complex litigation, professional liability matters, insurance coverage, and mass tort cases. She successfully tried a civil bench trial involving conversion and fraud, supervised large-scale discovery and e-discovery projects, and overturned impermissible zoning board actions. She also participated in the landmark Rhode Island v. Lead Industries Association, Inc. case, in which the Rhode Island Supreme Court overturned the nation’s first jury verdict finding of a public nuisance based on the cumulative presence of lead pigment in paint.
Ms. Mouquin is admitted to the bar in the state of Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and the US District Court for the District of New Jersey and US District Court for the District of Rhode Island.
Joe Gangi, Esq.
Mr. Gangi focuses on assisting clients with perfecting appeals throughout New York's appellate courts, including the Appellate Division First and Second Departments, the New York Court of Appeals, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. His knowledge of New York's Practice Rules of the Appellate Division and his ability to find creative solutions to procedural issues, make him a valuable asset to his clients.
Prior to starting his appellate work in 2018, Mr. Gangi was a litigator for two prominent South Florida insurance defense firms, where his practice was focused on personal injury and commercial litigation.
Mr. Gangi has also had the opportunity to work on several appeals to Florida's Third and Fourth District Courts of Appeal, which provides him with invaluable insight into the appellate process.
Mr. Gangi is admitted to the bar in the State of Florida and the US District court for the Southern District of Florida.
